Amish.Net The Website

The history of Amish.Net is rooted deeply in America’s Amish Country.

Scott Neader of La Crosse, Wisconsin, near Cashton, the largest Amish settlement in Wisconsin, is the owner of the URL (web site address) http://Amish.Net and the owner of Internet Solutions where he hosts and builds websites. Laurie, Neader’s wife, first used Amish.Net from 1997 to market quilts made by Cashton’s Amish women.

Leslie A. Kelly has joined with Neader to expand Amish.Net to offer information about the Amish and serve as a Portal for a wide range of Amish Made goods and tourism services. Kelly is perhaps best known throughout America’s Amish Country as co-author and co-photographer with Holmes County photographer Doyle Yoder of America’s Amish Country (1992, America’s Amish Country Publications), the first definitive photo book -- characterized as “National Georgraphic quality” -- to provide a complete and accurate portrayal of the Amish in the United States and Canada.

Prior to joining with Yoder, from the early 1970s, Kelly lived in Virginia, New Jersey and Ohio where he made numerous trips to the nearby Amish areas of Lancaster Country (PA), Holmes County (OH) and Northern Indiana. With Yoder, he visited most of the Amish settlements in the US and Canada before publishing America’s Amish Country. In 1993, Kelly attended the 300th Anniversary Commemoration of the founding of the Amish as a sect at St. Marie-aux-Mines, Alsace, France. Kelly and Yoder’s sequel, America’s Amish Country II (Revisiting America’s Amish Country) (May 2000), offers an expanded look at the established communities along with some new ones.

More than 50% of America’s households are now wired for the Net and Asia and Europe are growing at a fast rate. People worldwide are increasingly using the Net to buy goods and services and make travel arrangements and find and book accommodations. These are sophisticated people who use the Net to seek out unique and new kinds of products and search for new adventures in places that they’ve not visited before, right here at Amish.Net!

Amish.Net The Company is based in Huntington Beach, California, and managed by Leslie A. Kelly. Kelly has been affiliated with the corporate world in management and administration for more than 35 years and has been a professional photographer for more than twenty five years. Kelly has published or provided photography for photo books about Laura Ingalls Wilder, author of the Little House books, with Bill Anderson, noted Laura biographer. These books include Laura Ingalls Wilder Country (HarperCollinsPublishers 1990), Musical Memories of Laura Ingalls Wilder (Hear & Learn Publications 1992), Little House Country: A Photo Guide to the Home Sites of Laura Ingalls Wilder (Terrell 1989), Laura Ingalls Wilder Country Cookbook (HarperCollinsPublishers 1995) and Little House Guidebook (HarperCollinsPublishers 1996).

For the California Gold Discovery Sesquicentennial, Kelly wrote and illustrated California’s Gold Rush Country, 1848 - 1998 (Les Kelly Publications 1997) and Traveling California's Gold Rush Country (Falcon Press 1997).
